Each morning when we first awake from a good night sleep, it can take 20/30 minutes and several cups of coffee before we start to feel properly awake. But for some people that tired groggy feeling can stay with them throughout the whole day. I myself have suffered from fatigue in the past and struggled for weeks to pin down the cause of it. Eventually, I was able to identify 2 of the main contributing factors – lack of sleep and diet. I was one of those people who could manage of 6hrs sleep, I’ve been like that since I was around 16 years of age. I would stay up late into the night watching a film or playing video games, and then I would get up for work at around 6 am.
At this time I had no issues with feeling tired constantly I would wake up and shake off the tiredness within half an hour or so, but as I got older it was becoming every increasingly difficult to wake up or have the energy to do things. Another contributing factor to this was my eating pattern. I would often skip breakfast, as I wouldn’t have an appetite for around 2-3 hours after getting up, along with eating lots of rubbish before bed like pizza, crisps and chocolate. Nowadays I feel I am older and wiser, I always try to make a conscious effort to go to bed at a reasonable time and have a healthy nutritious breakfast (whether I’m hungry or not).
Since making the effort to go to bed at a reasonable time, not eat masses of junk food before bed and have a healthy nutritious breakfast in the morning, I can say without a doubt that I feel completely different. One of the main contributing factors to this turnaround- I feel, is down to eating a healthy breakfast first thing in the morning. By forcing myself to eat in the morning I am giving my body the nutrients it needs to convert into energy. Most mornings I will have some healthy whole grain cereal as well as a protein shake. I noticed an immediate change in my energy levels from day one and haven’t looked back since. My only regret is not doing this earlier as I suffered from my self-inflicted tiredness for years.Whilst trying to figure out how I should go about remedying my situation, I found some really useful and interesting blog post on a website called Nuzest – Link to one of my favourite blog post is HERE.
